Made By: This scarf is made of the finest quality handwoven tassar procured from Vidarbha region of Maharashtra from Sankusare ji who runs a land to loom initiative in responsible silk culture and ethical production. These were then hand tie-dyed by Bandhni artisan Zakiya ji in Bhuj, Gujrat. A graduate of Kala Raksha Design school she is carrying on this family tradition in otherwise a male dominated craft technique. Often women karigars are associated with stitching and tying part of the process while male artisans take the lead in dyeing process. She and her husband make a great team and we are thrilled to collaborate with them!
Bandhni: Bandhani is a type of tie-dye textile decorated by plucking the cloth with the fingernails into many tiny bindings that form a figurative design. To learn more about this process and stories please follow our social media accounts.
