Khun: Khun or Khana sarees and fabrics are handwoven in regions of North Karnataka and Maharashtra. This weave is estimated to be more than 200 years old. This cotton silk material was mainly used to fashion blouses to go with Ilkal Sarees, but now it has gained popularity as a saree material. Lightweight yet rich in detail with intricate motifs one can understand why this material works really well for sarees. It takes about a week to weave one saree starting from yarn preparation to finishing.
